Beauty of Ostromecko near Bydgoszcz

Ostromecko is situated in central Poland on the right bank of the Vistula River, just 2.5 km from the district of Bydgoszcz called Fordon and about 10 km east from the city centre. The picturesque landscape of the surrounding nature reserves.

Integrated with the landscape of the Vistula River bend, delight two great objects, known today as the Old Palace and the New Palace, as well as the park designed by the famous Peter Joseph and consisting of Italian garden and English style park. In the depths of the park, on the Vistula embankment the older of the palaces is located.

Rococo structure was built by Bogdan Teodor Mostowski of Dołęga coat of arms, castellan of Płock. He rebuilt simple nobleman’s manor, owned by the Dorpowski family, and turned it into a two-storey building with the fashionable at the time garden, adorned with ponds and fountains. Greater palace was built in years 1832-1848, by Jacob Martin Schönborn.

The construction was completed by his son Gottlieb. Beautiful mansion in the classical style was probably designed by renowned Berlin architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. At the end of the nineteenth century, the next owner, count Albrecht von Alvensleben enlarged the classical palace with two-storey building in the neo-baroque style. In the years 1905-1912, a ballroom and a terrace garden were added.

Maybe old  palace in Ostromecko was a place of rendezvous  between Polish king August II the Strong ; Polish August II Mocny and his mistress Countess Cosel. At that time /the 18th century/ king August II was the owner of Ostromecko.
