Zahlreiche Parks und Grünanlagen in Bromberg verflechten sich mit verschiedenen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Zur Entstehung und Charakter der Stadt hat sehr viel die Brahe beigetragen. Zwischen dem 14. und 17. Jh. Entstanden hier Kornspeicher, Mühlen und Lagern.

Bemerkenswert ist die Mühleninsel- eine in der Mitte der Stadt liegende malerische Ecke. Sie begeistert durch ihre Kastanienallee mit Katzenkopfpflaster. Zu den größten Attraktionen auf der Insel gehören Brücken, Schleusen und alte Mühlen.

Mill Island is one of the most unusual and enchanting places in Bydgoszcz . What makes the island unique is primarily its location in the very heart of the city , just a few steps from the Old Market Square . Starting from the Middle Ages, for a few centuries the island was the industrial centre of the city.

Mill Island was the seat of a royal mint , which operated in this place with some interruptions, from 1594 to 1688. The Bydgoszcz mint became famous for its 100 ducats of Sigismund III Vasa , perhaps the largest gold coin in the history of Europe ( 7 centimetres in diameter). Currently, Mill Island is a salon of the city , a green oasis in the centre of a nearly half a million people metropolis. Most of the buildings located on the island date back to the 19 th century. H owever, the cellar of the so-called White Granary remembers the 15th century . Water, footbridges , old mills (now museums) , red-brick buildings reflected in the depths of the Młynówka River (the so-called Venice of Bydgoszcz ), groomed green areas - all this creates the atmosphere of today’s Bydgoszcz river island .

Padlocks hang newlyweds and lovers high school students, as well as people with many years of marital experience.Footbridge at the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz already gained a name - Valentine's Bridge. Similar bridges festooned love padlocks can find also in Wroclaw, Poznan, Vilnius, Germany, Italy, and in Paris of course.

Immer mehr Paare hängen Vorhängeschlösser an Brücken – auf der ganzen Welt... Mit diesem Ritual schwören sich die beiden Liebenden  „Ewige Liebe“, befestigen das Schloss an einem zentralen Platz und werfen den Schlüssel vorzugsweise in einen Fluß, mit dem Ausspruch „für immer“. Die Schlösser enthalten meist eine Beschriftung oder Gravur der Vornamen oder Initialen der Verliebten; teilweise mit Datum.
Woher dieser Brauch kommt ist nicht ganz klar. Ausgangspunkt evtl. Italien - es könnte aber auch Ungarn oder Polen sein. Was interessant ist, in Venedig und Berlin sind diese Liebesschlösser strikt verboten. Alte Liebe rostet nicht...oder doch?

A part of Bydgoszcz resembles Venice in Italy and is known as the Bydgoszcz Venice. It is an island between two arms of the River Brda. There are houses situated very close to the water making it seem as though they are in the water itself.
